"Soon, I will bloom." | Ilustration

Image
May is normally warm and gets some sunshine on a good day. Today's temperature drops quite drastic, after the long weekend of really warm of as least 22c. And I'm wearing a jumper today! 😅 As it's May this month, I have been thinking about that wildflower in my home garden, and I noticed that it hasn't blossomed yet. It's just all green leaves. This photo was taken today. And this photo was taken in June 2018. You can see many pink flowers over the wall and on the tree. This photo was taken in June 2015.                               And, even this one was taken in May 2018.  The dog rose flower habitually start in May and drop after August. I thought about the dog rose that I drew them and I also recorded my drawing in timelapse. It's interesting to see my drawing at such a speed, as I've seen many artists, painters, graphics and illustrators do this so I like to try it myself. This is the ...

Long-tailed Tit Cherish The Flowers | Moving Image / GIF

Image
Hello you. It's May Day today and Britain is celebrating VE Day! Marking 75th anniversary of the end of WW2. Also, I feel like celebrating myself that I have finally finished my moving image! Or in another name GIF. Last time I worked on animation was when I was in university, that's 5 years ago! It's been so long and quite hard to find some time as illustration-animation is time-consuming. When the lockdown happened here, I thought something to get myself focus whilst isolating in my home, is doing illustration as well as an animation! So it's a perfect time to get back on animation again.  The equipment I used in university, working on my animation project, was utterly different from what I did on this and don't have them anymore, so I improvise. I would really use a proper lightbox to inbetweening as it's easier and less hassle, I had to use a makeshift lightbox with a clear plastic box with a desk lamp inside. Not the best for workspace, very awkward, if onl...

May Day | Illustration

Image
It's May Day bank holiday in the U.K, with this splendid weather, still! I've spend May Day being outside, inspired to draw the bird again. This bird I have drawn was male Dartford Warbler, that have such an astonish colours combination. Firstly, I sketched the bird in pencil, if I'm happy how it's looks, then used the pen for outline details, here's the result. To this. The close-up GIF. Again, I enjoy it very much drawing it outside in this weather. Hope you have a lovely May Day!

Drawing The Cirl Bunting In The Sun | Illustration

Image
Hello all. Yesterday, the weather in the U.K was blissful, the temperature had reached to 23°c with just sunshine all day. Looking at the weather I thought, I could go outside and do some bird drawing, so I did also with lot of suncream slap on me. I illustrated female Cirl Bunting with her wings as she fly, here's the speed drawing animation. And here's the outcome of my Cirl Bunting illustration. I have really enjoyed drawing in this weather yesterday, yet, today is even warmer and I'll be having a veggie BBQ later. Have a lovely Sunday in this splendid weather! 😀

Happy Mother's Day | Illustration

Image
Happy Mother's Day! The U.K had their Mother's Day on 11th March, which was two days ago! I have gave my mum something meaningful, a card illustrated by me! My concept was to have a bird and flower as a wreath, with them that are her favourites, which are robin (British) and carnation. My first thought of using the media was waterpaint, the colourpencil was the back up plan, I had hope that my waterpaint skill is good than before. Also, the card I used is the size of 4"x6", to illustrate so small that the waterpaint will be easy. So here's first sketchbook page of my experiment of waterpaint. I thought this looking really good, better than I expected. Then I tried out what colourpencil would look like on flowers.   This illustration of carnation flowers, as in colourpencil, may looks good but that's in 13cm square. I thought that I would like it when I illustrate small as in 1cm, especially with some details on flowers, I'l...

Bird Feeders In The Snow | Illustration

Image
Hellooo. This blog topic is about... SNOW. Last week, from Monday, it had been snow for a week in England, that's where I lives. I did a snow day on Saturday and I had some fun with sledding, snow angel and snowball. While I was indoor, staying warm, I watched quite a lot of birds hang around some bird feeders in my garden. I have the bird fatball hanged from the branch, two seed feeders filled with sunflower hearts and a cake/scrap feeder filled with seeds and nuts in lard, that sits on the wall, surround with bushes' branch. This actually did bring a lot of birds such as black birds, blue tits, great tits, robins and even few pigeons tempted to eat from the feeders. Watching them inspired me to have an idea to illustrates, as I called Bird Feeders In The Snow. Though I was in the kitchen and birds fly around a lot, so I captured these moments to memorise, I ended up with only two. Then I drew this... Left: Two Goldfinches on seed feeder. Right: Dunnock stared at c...

A 'Kind Of' Commission for the Receptionist at Work | Illustration

Image
Hey, there! It's January! Did you had a wonderful christmas and New Year? I love christmas and missed it for quite a while, I enjoyed it very much with my family, lovely presents and glorious christmas food! Anyway! I did the favour, feel like an design commission, kind of, for the receptionist at work. She would like an bedroom door sign for her young daughter as a personalised children's door sign. The design she wanted is a teddy bear on the side, with her daughter's name, she also showed me the size she wanted, that I measure it in 200mmx140mm. Before I started to design, I did some sketches the concepts. Some body positions of the bear, such as standing, sitting, arm waving, and handlettering styles. Then I started to use the Illustrator, I used Adobe Illustrator CC at work, to illustrate a teddy bear, in my spare time before going home. This had taken me few days, as 5 hours in my spare time. Here's a finished digital illustration. The digital illust...
