Winter Flowers | Illustration

Image
As I mentioned from the last blog-post, Peacock Orchid , that I was supposed to work on a series of winter flowers. Here is it! This is about these particular flowers that can thrive in cold winter, they even make this grey season some bust of colours. I picked 5 flowers to illustrate, 2 native British and 3 from other countries such as the Mediterranean and China. The 5 flowers I've chosen are pansy, winter honeysuckle, snowdrop, winter clematis and winter heather.   So, here they are, my 5 illustrations of winter flowers; I also did the digital version, by using my painting as originally is, with coloured backgrounds digitally. It's fun working on this, although wasn't so sure of the look, perhaps I need to work on the edges of my painting artwork, to soften it. Let me know in the comment what do you think of it? Thanks for reading this and have a nice evening!

A 'Kind Of' Commission for the Receptionist at Work | Illustration

Image
Hey, there! It's January! Did you had a wonderful christmas and New Year? I love christmas and missed it for quite a while, I enjoyed it very much with my family, lovely presents and glorious christmas food! Anyway! I did the favour, feel like an design commission, kind of, for the receptionist at work. She would like an bedroom door sign for her young daughter as a personalised children's door sign. The design she wanted is a teddy bear on the side, with her daughter's name, she also showed me the size she wanted, that I measure it in 200mmx140mm. Before I started to design, I did some sketches the concepts. Some body positions of the bear, such as standing, sitting, arm waving, and handlettering styles. Then I started to use the Illustrator, I used Adobe Illustrator CC at work, to illustrate a teddy bear, in my spare time before going home. This had taken me few days, as 5 hours in my spare time. Here's a finished digital illustration. The digital illust...

Shy British Badger full of curiosity. | Illustration

Image
Here are my illustrations of Shy British Badger full of curiosity.  The first Shy British Badger illustration is acrylic paint, with much more water, along with colour pencil, the paint actually gives some textures. The second illustration is a favourite, it's colour pencil. Also did in digital, but still stick with colour pencil. And finally, front face illustration actually looks cute.

This Bird is on FIRE | Illustration

I posted this illustration on my instagram ( @lauramillustration ) on 5th November, to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night, as known as Bonfire Night and Firework Night, here in Great Britain. This bird... is on FIRE. Looking phenomenal? 😁 Here are my original two illustration. It's a Blue Tit. Hope you had a good Firework Night! Were you being kind to the wildlife and their home while you did the firework display? I hope you kindly did.

I had showed my mum and younger sister of my design to hear their opinion and feedback, both loves it and my sister would love to have one as a wallpaper for her bedroom. It is definitely stressful project but overall, i am pleased.

Cath Kidston Competition | Illustration

Image
This is for competition project, for Cath Kidston. It’s not completed yet, still need to change few around then i’m done. This is really hard work to do, that i thought from the start will be simple but later it’s get really complicated and lots of stress. The colour choice is quite difficult but at the end, i am happy the choice of colours i chose.  I did some development concepts, some birds, plants, butterflies, etc. I did some drawings that i would use for the design such as the berries in ink and the soft outline butterflies. I drew three chosen positions that works well for my design. Then used the tracing papers for painting over the original drawings, scanned them and worked in photoshop to makes it more digital and in three colour versions. I did some experiment on pattern or surface design, as in another name, and hoping this will improves and giving me some more ideas. My completed design patches. ...
