Painting in the Sunshine | Art Diary

Image
In July 16th, the hottest Saturday, I have been painting outside for the first time in years. With the weather like that, even that was about 30 degree Celsius, I thought I could do painting outside, having a natural light is better to see, especially when I used the metallic paints on this painting. I actually painted underneath the parasol and wore a hat of course, I do not like a sunburn, until later into the evening I burned on my right side. Because I forgot to move myself as the sun move, silly me! Anyway, the nicest time of the day was in the evening. Nice warm air, still better light to see the painting, I even had a glass of rosé next to me! It was bliss. Have a nice weekend. 🎨💜

Paint 'Til The Spring Evening

Image
Pondering through the window as the darkness come, finished my painting for the day. I have been thinking about the summer, having longer daylight, a greener front garden and warmth. Last night, the daylight went at 6.50-ish, we are getting closer to the long daylight! Meaning I'll be continuing to illustrate until 8pm for my relaxing times. I actually prefer natural light to work on my arts, better to see all the small details and colours. Do you agree? 😅 As you see my painting of rabbits I'm working on, you will find out on the next blog! Leave a comment below what you think it'll be! 💡

The Sunshine of Summer Sunset | Photography

Image
Getting a summer evening feeling. I was on the floor in the guest room after 9 last night, waiting for my sister who was having a bath as we were having a Friday night anime movie. Whilst I was waiting, on my Mac laptop with an issue of shutdown automatically for no reason, hey ho, and I stared through the window, mesmerised by the sun shined onto the green bushes and illuminated the bird feeder. With the house being so quiet, cool feeling on the floor level with summer temperature from the ceiling, gazing at the sunlight moving that I took out my bridge camera and took a few. I felt serene, nostalgic and got the summer evening kind of feeling, I like the sunset in summer the most as it's very beautiful scenery and you can see all these colour change. About the anime movie that my sister and I watched last night, A Whisker Away, it's on Netflix and it was really good and cute! I only like romantic and magical/spiritual kind of anime such as all of the Studio Ghibli movies, as i...

This Flower Reminded Me Of... | Illustration

Image
Hi all! The heatwave is still here in the U.K., although I got back from Cyprus few days ago, with my family and my brother's friend. I had an incredible holiday there, very enjoyable time, the beach, the lounger and pool that hotel we all stayed in have, were splendid. The temperature was hot, that we weren't used to it but doesn't really bothering us, because that's the point of going on holiday, just to bask in before going home. Anyway, I did the illustration of flower, I use the watercolour as I did with my pansies illustration, it's in Spring Bank Holiday blog. I've done this just a little over a month ago, I was inspired to illustrate it because they caught my eyes in my garden, how small and stand out they are in the garden, especially in this particular weather. This flower is called the California Poppy. Although the weather wasn't that much of sunshine, yet it was warm. Even I have to edited these photos to brighten up. Here's the...

Summer Insects | Photography

Image
It's Summer Bank Holiday today! I had lovely long bank holiday weekend, as I have spend whole weekend and today some illustrations that I'm catching up. I have missed illustrating very, very much as I'm working on the weekday and most of the weekend I have been busy, as well as felt drained from work that I needed some relaxation. Since the Summer is nearly end and haven't been blogged this month yet. So I thought the topic of this blog is photography.  This photography is all about the insects that I took many photos of from this summer and the past. Here are the collections of each year in Summer. Summer 2017  28th August : I helped this poor Large White butterfly today, he was in the middle of my garden, struggling to fly, I gave him some water from my fingers and placed him on the flowers from large flower pot if he need some nectaries as well as to rest. 9th July : Honey bee collected some pollen from the lavender.  22nd May : I saw thi...

My Great Grandmother's Handmade Owls Calendar

Image
I remembered this blog  Discovered My Ancestors' Creativity , that I wrote when I was in Final year in university. The one that mentioned with the handmade owls calendar that my great grandmother made, I remembered my lecturer asked if I have the photograph of it. I told her I found it in Summer 2014 when my family and I packed my grandma's stuff for her to move into care home, then I couldn't find it many months later, for the blog.  Well, guess what, I found it! It was in a small box full of old photos of my family (on my mum's side), as well as really old photos of my ancestors (also on my mum's side) back in the late 1800s. So there, this is what it's look like that my great grandmother made in 1969, a 1970 handmade owls calendar. Have a lovely day.

Discovering the old collection of Archibald Thorburn's Bird Illustrations

Image
It was in the early summer 2014, I was a university student from 2nd year, went to final year, clearing up my Grandma's house as she had to move to care home because of her dementia as well as she got arthritis. She was 92 years old and she had been living alone for 18 years, since my Granddad passed away from cancer. She's an very old lady. Sorting out so many of old stuff is like a treasure to my brother, sister and I. Especially the old toys, ornaments, board games, photos and old jigsaw puzzles. Also old memories for my mum and uncle. So, we all did do sorting Grandma's stuff. Until then, what I ended up is that I found my mum's souvenir back in 1974, when she was 14, a beautiful collection of Archibald Thorburn's illustrations. They're British shorebirds, even though three of these shorebirds are no longer in British shorelines. Here are some photos of Thorburn's shorebird illustrations. London Day Out For Mum's Birthday | British Museum Visit

Image
I went to London on 11th August with my mum, both younger brother and sister, a day out for my wonderful mum's birthday. Hopped onto the train at 10.26 in the morning, an hour travel to St Pancras station. The weather was really warm and sunshine, luckily. Firstly we were having a lunch in Russell Square garden, before going to the museum. Into the entrance, the building looked magnificent, either Greek or Roman style, as I have history interest of Greek and Roman. Once we went inside, we were given 2 hours to look around because we planned to go to Fortune Theatre to see Woman In Black. As we decided to go in British Museum for our spare time before theatre. Walked into the entrance from the photo above, we were draw by the enormous, majestic stair on the left side. And that lead us to the history of coins and money, we have seen the tiniest coins, the largest coins, stylish, shapes, and so on. Next room was the Greek, one of my favourite eras. They showed the jeweller...
