Merry Christmas!

Image
Merry Christmas!  I had a wonderful Christmas today, with my grandma (Mum's), uncle (Mum's), Mum, brother and sister. I got some lovely presents, nice Christmas dinner, watched Jungle Book (2015 version), charades and Cluedo in Simpson version. I enjoyed it today. My Christmas illustrations of robin on the cards, only two, for grandma and uncle, as requested by my mum. They really like my Christmas illustrations, I thought they looks sweet. Hope you had a lovely Christmas!

Shy British Badger full of curiosity. | Illustration

Image
Here are my illustrations of Shy British Badger full of curiosity.  The first Shy British Badger illustration is acrylic paint, with much more water, along with colour pencil, the paint actually gives some textures. The second illustration is a favourite, it's colour pencil. Also did in digital, but still stick with colour pencil. And finally, front face illustration actually looks cute.

This Bird is on FIRE | Illustration

Image
I posted this illustration on my instagram ( @lauramillustration ) on 5th November, to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night, as known as Bonfire Night and Firework Night, here in Great Britain. This bird... is on FIRE. Looking phenomenal? 😁 Here are my original two illustration. It's a Blue Tit. Hope you had a good Firework Night! Were you being kind to the wildlife and their home while you did the firework display? I hope you kindly did.

Discovering the old collection of Archibald Thorburn's Bird Illustrations

Image
It was in the early summer 2014, I was a university student from 2nd year, went to final year, clearing up my Grandma's house as she had to move to care home because of her dementia as well as she got arthritis. She was 92 years old and she had been living alone for 18 years, since my Granddad passed away from cancer. She's an very old lady. Sorting out so many of old stuff is like a treasure to my brother, sister and I. Especially the old toys, ornaments, board games, photos and old jigsaw puzzles. Also old memories for my mum and uncle. So, we all did do sorting Grandma's stuff. Until then, what I ended up is that I found my mum's souvenir back in 1974, when she was 14, a beautiful collection of Archibald Thorburn's illustrations. They're British shorebirds, even though three of these shorebirds are no longer in British shorelines. Here are some photos of Thorburn's shorebird illustrations. London Day Out For Mum's Birthday | British Museum Visit

Image
I went to London on 11th August with my mum, both younger brother and sister, a day out for my wonderful mum's birthday. Hopped onto the train at 10.26 in the morning, an hour travel to St Pancras station. The weather was really warm and sunshine, luckily. Firstly we were having a lunch in Russell Square garden, before going to the museum. Into the entrance, the building looked magnificent, either Greek or Roman style, as I have history interest of Greek and Roman. Once we went inside, we were given 2 hours to look around because we planned to go to Fortune Theatre to see Woman In Black. As we decided to go in British Museum for our spare time before theatre. Walked into the entrance from the photo above, we were draw by the enormous, majestic stair on the left side. And that lead us to the history of coins and money, we have seen the tiniest coins, the largest coins, stylish, shapes, and so on. Next room was the Greek, one of my favourite eras. They showed the jeweller

New Pattern Designs | Peach Roses

Image
I have came up with the idea for my new pattern design, as well as in experimenting with it, so i tried out with watercolour paint and flower and see how they look. Because i love floral and watercolour paint illustration.  I firstly drew flowers to work out which one is the best for the watercolour. Then i watercolour paint of flower as i draw them. Once i picked the good one, i scanned it and opened the photoshop. Then i started to do the pattern layouts, i came up with three designs. I ended up did this pattern design in attempted of anaglyph 3D effect. Funnily enough, I would like to know if that's work because i don't have the anaglyph 3D glasses. Also, here's my attempt title design.
