Covert Development Concept | Illustration

This project i was getting some ideas for Covert, which then i have to display in exhibition at the end. As my illustration style are nature, am working out to illustrate of covert in nature.  I did some research on illustrations, drawings, designs and materials. I looked at Japanese art, Textile Now book by Drusilla Cole, Landscape Drawing book, Emma Lofstrom, Diana Cooper and Paul Morrison. Then quickly i came up with a idea for my work, show how wild animals lives in a tree, only some British animals. The first concept of what my work could look like. With the tree, these are the materials i am using, a black ink and colour soft pastels onto fabric. Then i added some from my concept, having some genuine  branches onto my work, thought that to makes it out of it as 3D would be. So i experiment it with a branch, however my lecturer wasn't sure if that work well. Then i had another concept, this time without branches and less or no frame. I have v

The final experiment/development outcome, the idea of animals peeping through the tree. My idea of the theme of Covert is about whats inside the tree and in forest, that animals lives there mystery way. Drawn with soft pastels and black ink on hand-wash cotton.

An test GIF of small bird for Moving Image project. Got the wings movement quite right, bit of trouble with table even though it had been squashed in between. Going to do on long strip of paper for more spacious and comfortable to draw.

Impressed with my illustration of leaves. (Visualising Science Virus project) This is Visualising Science Virus project, it's basically a practise to see if your illustration style works well for some kind of science education and such.  So, as always, going for nature relate viruses, like tree disease, fruit, flower, etc. I have done some researches, a quite long time to look through. I came up with these lists, Dutch Elm disease ( Chalara Praxinea ) also in another name of Ash Dieback, AOD ( Acute Oak Decline ), Horse Chestnut Bleeding Canker, Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner ( Cameraria Ohridella ), Phytophtora Ramorum, Phytophtora Lateralis ( Chamaecyparis Lawsoniana) , Birch Leaf Miner ( Fenusa Pusilla ), CTV ( Citus Tristeza Virus) , Leaf Spot Grass Disease, Rust Grass Disease, Brome Mosaic Virus, Plum Pox Virus. These butterfly illustrations are an experiment for my Cath Kidston competition project, i have to say, it's my very first ever to enter the competition and truthfully, i'm very nervous working on this project.  With this competition brief, i have to designs new prints for Cath Kidston. I do heard of Cath Kidston, i researched through Cath Kidston website to see their design range and styles, they have Cowboy range, Garden Birds range, Guard of London range, floral style, spots style, and so on. I thought that i want to design nature, such as birds, butterflies, berries and flowers. At the end i put together of butterflies and berries for my pattern design.
