Visualising Science Virus | Illustration

Impressed with my illustration of leaves. (Visualising Science Virus project)

This is Visualising Science Virus project, it's basically a practise to see if your illustration style works well for some kind of science education and such.

So, as always, going for nature relate viruses, like tree disease, fruit, flower, etc. I have done some researches, a quite long time to look through. I came up with these lists, Dutch Elm disease (Chalara Praxinea) also in another name of Ash Dieback, AOD (Acute Oak Decline), Horse Chestnut Bleeding Canker, Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner (Cameraria Ohridella), Phytophtora Ramorum, Phytophtora Lateralis (Chamaecyparis Lawsoniana), Birch Leaf Miner (Fenusa Pusilla), CTV (Citus Tristeza Virus), Leaf Spot Grass Disease, Rust Grass Disease, Brome Mosaic Virus, Plum Pox Virus. However i have included the list of diseases and meant to search virus, silly me, it was actually difficult to search more plant viruses.

So, while i was using these virus names in google image so that i can illustrate it. Here are some developments i have done.

At the end, i picked two viruses, which are Citrus Tristeza Virus and Plum Pox Virus. These are some ideas for final illustrations.

Plum Pox Virus

Citrus Tristeza Virus

My lecturer likes the CTV development, so i did it. I use drawing inks and pencil working onto lining paper in little bigger than A3 size. I thought this looks really well.

Then my lecturer suggested that i could work onto fabric material, so i did.

I have to say, i prefered my illustrations on lining paper.
