Winter Flowers | Illustration

Image
As I mentioned from the last blog-post, Peacock Orchid , that I was supposed to work on a series of winter flowers. Here is it! This is about these particular flowers that can thrive in cold winter, they even make this grey season some bust of colours. I picked 5 flowers to illustrate, 2 native British and 3 from other countries such as the Mediterranean and China. The 5 flowers I've chosen are pansy, winter honeysuckle, snowdrop, winter clematis and winter heather.   So, here they are, my 5 illustrations of winter flowers; I also did the digital version, by using my painting as originally is, with coloured backgrounds digitally. It's fun working on this, although wasn't so sure of the look, perhaps I need to work on the edges of my painting artwork, to soften it. Let me know in the comment what do you think of it? Thanks for reading this and have a nice evening!

Peacock Orchid | Illustration

The first painting in 2021! I have got a theme in mind, which fit in this season, winter. When I remember this flower I took 2019 from my mum's garden, inspired me for the theme collection with other flowers, called it Winter Flowers. To what I've realised, this flower isn't considered to be a winter flower, they only bloom in late summer and last until autumn. Now, that was before I search it to find the name of this flower, I thought it's called winter lily as this looks like a lily to me and bloomed in cold season as I thought it was. This flower is actually called Peacock Orchid, or Acidanthera in another name. Perhaps it's the colours that twisted my mind into thinking it's a winter flower. Don't you think? 😜 So I went along and paint this flower, also I include a video of this painting in time-lapse. It is a very interesting detail of the marks on the petal, a purple-red colour as I worked out the paint mixed to match, with spray-like on the edge of t

Violet Flower Art Print | Illustration

Happy New Year! Something to fresh it up for the start of the new year. I had this violet flower art print printed in November last year, I did it for the paper test to see the quality. I have a couple of them and thought I'll use one for my bedroom, as I have an A2 frame size that does fit with this art print. The first artwork was the original art of British robin in mixed media, which are soft pastel and black ink, that I've framed it for 6 years. Here's the first artwork; I illustrated this when I was in university, over the years my art style has changed from that time. I wanted to change it, but couldn't think of what artwork of my own to use. Since I have some art prints and intended to use one. Yep, I've included my signature! I wasn't so sure at first because of the black background fitting along with my bedroom and having a flower even my bedroom decoration theme is mostly birds.  What do you think?
