Orange Tip Butterfly Pattern Design

I only do this to experiment and really enjoying doing pattern design. You may have seen this orange tip butterfly from this blog .  Even though i have done this first pattern back in February 2014, for my competition project , looking simple pattern.  Now that i revisited this first pattern design, i tried to do in different pattern layout, just for fun. I have done two designs. The last design may looks mad as a hatter, but really, just for fun.

This is part of Illustration projects 3, for Text, Image, Narrative project. I chose to do the competition from House of Illustration/Folio Society, the task is to create cover for 3 ghost stories, which are The Treasure of Abbot Thomas by M.R. James, A Tale of an Empty House by E.F.Benson and The Upper Berth by F.Marion Crawford. I had some thought that i could do my illustration in such a dark eerie way, massively different as my style is nature, an innocent illustration. Even though in my spare time, i do watch some horror films, with my younger sister, and she had some horror books as well. Which i'll be getting more concepts for this project before sent off in final. These concepts i did when i judged from the titles, before i read through. Some concepts after i read through these three stories. Pattern Design | Illustration

I had showed my mum and younger sister of my design to hear their opinion and feedback, both loves it and my sister would love to have one as a wallpaper for her bedroom. It is definitely stressful project but overall, i am pleased. 

Cath Kidston Competition | Illustration

This is for competition project, for Cath Kidston. It’s not completed yet, still need to change few around then i’m done. This is really hard work to do, that i thought from the start will be simple but later it’s get really complicated and lots of stress. The colour choice is quite difficult but at the end, i am happy the choice of colours i chose.  I did some development concepts, some birds, plants, butterflies, etc. I did some drawings that i would use for the design such as the berries in ink and the soft outline butterflies. I drew three chosen positions that works well for my design. Then used the tracing papers for painting over the original drawings, scanned them and worked in photoshop to makes it more digital and in three colour versions. I did some experiment on pattern or surface design, as in another name, and hoping this will improves and giving me some more ideas. My completed design patches. ...

Butterfly Illustrations | Illustration

These butterfly illustrations are an experiment for my Cath Kidston competition project, i have to say, it's my very first ever to enter the competition and truthfully, i'm very nervous working on this project.  With this competition brief, i have to designs new prints for Cath Kidston. I do heard of Cath Kidston, i researched through Cath Kidston website to see their design range and styles, they have Cowboy range, Garden Birds range, Guard of London range, floral style, spots style, and so on. I thought that i want to design nature, such as birds, butterflies, berries and flowers. At the end i put together of butterflies and berries for my pattern design.
