Commission? Agency? | Professional Practise

The kind of commissions I want to work are any roles relates to nature, it may be packaging designs for nature theme design, it may be editorial in nature topic articles, it may be window display, and so. Though I would like to work with the nature charities, which are RSPB, National Trust, Wildlife Trust, etc., that I could do with my fabric sculptures, animations and any others I can do. However I have been commissioned in 2011 and 2012, from my graphic course.  As in course-group, we were commissioned to design logo brand, in 2011, and to design website, in 2012, for Centara, the neighbourhood association in Corby Town. Yet it was not my kind of idea to work. As mentioned why I chose illustration over graphic design. Even so I did have a look at the agencies, the one I came across for years and simply useful was Illustrationweb. I looked through the illustrators that I was familiar with are Sarah Beeston, Jacqueline Bissett, Oliver Hasselluhn, and many more in there. I beli...

Leaflet Design | Graphic Design

Image
This live project, we have to design the leaflet for our local hospital, KGH (Kettering General Hospital), a leaflet full of information of Asthma. So, I started doing development to design the layouts and design the illustrating for the covers of leaflet. I chose to use Indesign rather than using OuarkXPress because I thought Indesign is easy to work on and also I don’t have Quark on the desktop I currently use, so I have to use Indesign. This background goes on both side. The front cover image is separate but is linked to the background, and also the field to link with. I used the gradient mesh tool to create the shadows and highlight on their clothes and hair, to make them look quite realistic. First thing I started to design the leaflet is the layout on every page, then added the NHS logo and then write up from the copy leaflet sheet. Then I used illustrator for the background, I planned to use a field with pale blue sky and clouds and at the front of t...

Centara Logo Designs | Graphic Design

This live project seem a big thing to me, a lot going on, busy, busy, busy project. So I have used what I learnt about designing a logo when I did ALEM. Logo should always be simple, clean, colours, with images that people would recognise as the name of the company. Firstly I created a mind map about Corby and Centara, I had some ideas from this when I used it for images bank like tree that represent environment, Raven that represent Corby’s emblem, people that represent the community, etc. Even i grew up in Corby, my family lives there and i still have a friend who lives in Corby and i grew up with. Then I developed some sketches and ideas for the new logo. I designed some simple and colourful. I used mixed media on the logo designs that will bring some idea before I designed it on illustrator. I designed 13 logos but chose 6 to improve and present to the client. My first design I focused on the C, I used the C to underline the ‘entara’, then I placed the strapline ins...

T-Shirt And Swing Tag Finish Designs | Graphic Design

Image
I had presentation anyway, standing, in front of the clients, my lecturers  and all of my course-mates. I was so nervous when i putting together for the presentation and preparing the speech note, i was even more nervous when my name called out for the presentation, like the butterfly in my stomach feeling. I had no clue how to talk about my designs to the clients, how did people in their job talk to their clients? "Just talk about why you choose this designs" "what audience this designs are for?" "what are these designs?". Fortunately, the  feedbacks from the clients and peers (as course-mates), they were very positives, they like how I placed the logo on the t-shirt. My neck chain design was like and the use of colours was like. And they like roses in black and white. They're may looks like it's not enough comments but they're good enough for me, at least all are positives. Now i'm going to show you my finish designs, firstly, the log...

This is, what my lecturers calls them, the live project, meaning of this is because this involves with clients, real clients, outside of the college, things you do in these kind of jobs. This is my first project that clients will come over to view our designs, but my second live project, i have done the project for client before, even though didn't came over in person. It was Art Learning East Midlands, speaking of which. So this clients is Kill or Cure, as in clothing company kind, they wanted to launch a new range of T-shirts as well as tags and new logos, and designs to appeal to teenagers aged 13 – 15 and an older market 16 – 25. All designs are targeted to these audiences. Before i starting to designs, i have to do the questionnaire to hand out to my course-mates. Later i collected all of the questionnaire and analysed it, the results I found are that they prefer to only spend   £15 – £20 on a t-shirt. Most of them preferred green or blue t-shirts and m...
