T-Shirt and Swing Tag Development Designs | Graphic Design

This is, what my lecturers calls them, the live project, meaning of this is because this involves with clients, real clients, outside of the college, things you do in these kind of jobs. This is my first project that clients will come over to view our designs, but my second live project, i have done the project for client before, even though didn't came over in person. It was Art Learning East Midlands, speaking of which.

So this clients is Kill or Cure, as in clothing company kind, they wanted to launch a new range of T-shirts as well as tags and new logos, and designs to appeal to teenagers aged 13 – 15 and an older market 16 – 25. All designs are targeted to these audiences.

Before i starting to designs, i have to do the questionnaire to hand out to my course-mates. Later i collected all of the questionnaire and analysed it, the results I found are that they prefer to only spend  £15 – £20 on a t-shirt. Most of them preferred green or blue t-shirts and most people I asked were female and wanted a feminine t-shirt that was fitted and had short sleeves.

Frankly, the feminine styles that influence me are flowers, animals, charms, etc, for my t-shirt designs.  The things that girls like, flowers, animals’ jewellery etc. So i believed these kind of styles will work well to design for t-shirt in feminine.

I decided to design t - shirts for target audience of 16 – 25 years old, female and a feminine style and designs.

I got my inspiration from Carol’s session with observational drawings of objects natural and man made using many different medias.

When I started to do t-shirt designs, I draw some of from my idea, in pencil, because I will redecorate with mixed media, such as oil pastel, colours pencil, marker pen, crayons. There are only 8 designs I have done, but I picked 6 of them because I like these designs and thought it'll work well. So I scanned 6 of my drawing ideas, I will use all of them in Adobe Illustrator, except the Ladybird design, because as in oil pastel I thought it is interesting to use it on t-shirt. So here are some drawing i have done for the t-shirt, before i reproduce in Illustrator.

Also here are the other two of my 8 designs.

And my tag development design in Illustrator.

I will show you the finish t-shirt designs in next blog soon, that includes tags and logos.
