Mallard Duck’s Mother Love | Greeting Card | Illustration

Hellooo. I’ve added this new greeting card in my Etsy shop, for Mother’s Day! A sweet greeting card of Mallard duck, a mother and her duckling, with a flower of pink carnation. I thought duck and duckling would make it more cute for Mother’s Day card, how little ducklings following their mother with their waddling little legs. And the mothers, when one or few of her ducklings get lost or stuck, she stay close and finds them, communicating with quacks so she can navigate them by hearing their calls. As this mother duck would say, no ducklings left behind! Did you know, the pink carnation flowers traditionally gifted for Mother’s Day and pink symbolises gratitude and love. This cute card are for mum, mum-to-be, step-mum, grandmother, and even for the one who step up to be your mums! Even the duckling is a baby, it doesn’t matter for all of the older children and adults, because mums sees you as her baby, even my mum say the same to me and both of my siblings!  Get this card fr...

Mother Owl and her Owlets | Happy Mother's Day | Illustration

Happy Mother's Day! Today's 14th of March, celebrating all mums in the U.K., I've spoiled my mum with a fancy gift box full of goodies, they're chocolate treats and a lovely gin, by the way, and she absolutely loves them as she plans to devour them tonight! For this Mother's Day illustration I have been working on owls, I selected the barn owl as inspired by the t.v show Inside The Zoo from BBC, that I've watched with my mum, there were two barn owl brothers with amusing personalities and my mum enjoyed watching them and thought they're cute!  To start with, I sketched the mother and three owlets on black paper, for the colours I originally use coloured pencils, the Zenacolor. The coloured pencils have backfired as they don't work well on this satin texture paper, not how I wanted to look, so I've decided to use gouache paints. And they work better, although it needs to be layered. When I look at my artwork, this reminded me of the children's b...

Mother's Day | Illustration

Yesterday we had Mother's Day, here in the U.K. Anyone spoilt their mum with some sweet gifts, a bouquet of blossoming flowers, or a delicious box of chocolate? Or a simple, witty card. I know my mum loves chocolates, so I got her Hotel Chocolat. She enjoyed it very much as she ate the whole of it in one day. For Sunday Roast dessert, my sister and I made some Lemon Drizzle cupcakes. In the cakes filled with lemon zest and lemon drizzle, and the buttercream with lemon juice. Really, it was a very lemony taste! Also, we used some butterflies and daisy flowers for cake decoration which makes it more Mother's Day as well as the Spring season! Onto illustration topic, I have remembered that I have a quick drawing of a mother bird with her chicks I did 3 years ago, I thought that I can do a recreation! Just exactly what I did with the Birthday Bird illustration! Here's the original drawing from 3 years ago. Scroll down to see the recreation. ...

Happy Mother's Day | Illustration

Happy Mother's Day! The U.K had their Mother's Day on 11th March, which was two days ago! I have gave my mum something meaningful, a card illustrated by me! My concept was to have a bird and flower as a wreath, with them that are her favourites, which are robin (British) and carnation. My first thought of using the media was waterpaint, the colourpencil was the back up plan, I had hope that my waterpaint skill is good than before. Also, the card I used is the size of 4"x6", to illustrate so small that the waterpaint will be easy. So here's first sketchbook page of my experiment of waterpaint. I thought this looking really good, better than I expected. Then I tried out what colourpencil would look like on flowers.   This illustration of carnation flowers, as in colourpencil, may looks good but that's in 13cm square. I thought that I would like it when I illustrate small as in 1cm, especially with some details on flowers, I'l...
