Happy Mother's Day | Illustration
Happy Mother's Day!
The U.K had their Mother's Day on 11th March, which was two days ago!
I have gave my mum something meaningful, a card illustrated by me!
My concept was to have a bird and flower as a wreath, with them that are her favourites, which are robin (British) and carnation. My first thought of using the media was waterpaint, the colourpencil was the back up plan, I had hope that my waterpaint skill is good than before. Also, the card I used is the size of 4"x6", to illustrate so small that the waterpaint will be easy.
So here's first sketchbook page of my experiment of waterpaint.
I thought this looking really good, better than I expected.
Then I tried out what colourpencil would look like on flowers.
This illustration of carnation flowers, as in colourpencil, may looks good but that's in 13cm square. I thought that I would like it when I illustrate small as in 1cm, especially with some details on flowers, I'll probably be get quite frustrated. So I carried on practice with waterpaint.
Here's waterpaint of robin, with and without outline detailed. Again, bigger ones.
Here's another waterpaint, this time, carnation flowers, I thought doing bigger made quite messier than the smaller, seen the first photo.
This was the final experiment, once I saw this I thought, this is it, that's the one I've wanted to illustrate on card, it's small that does fit in, much better details on bird AND flowers, I was really happy with it so I was ready to start on the card.
Here are the photos of the process results.
The final photos of Mother's Day card with some props set up.
Onto Sunday Mother's Day, my mum's thought? She loved it.
Hope you had a lovely Sunday and you have spoilt your mum on Mother's Day. 🌹
