Creative Values | Professional Practise
So, the reason why I choose to study illustration… At first, after I completed school at the age of 16, straight to college, I studied art and design in BTEC First Diploma, skipped the Foundation course. Even though it was only lasted for a year, I couldn’t think that did I enjoyed this and these projects I have done if I move to next level of art and design…? However I have learned something new in this course, about the creative computer, which mean as graphic design. I then studied graphic design in BTEC Extended Diploma, included photography but was not fond with it later. Throughout 2 years in this course I have spend so much on computer doing some projects such as packaging designs, logos, leaflets, posters, creating website, and list go on and less on drawings and printings. It was just too much… So when I was on final year of graphic design course, I started to research on any other course that have more drawing involves and so does the printing, then I have found illustration. So far now, absolutely enjoying studying illustration. That’s the reason why I choose to study illustration.
My thought of the illustration and kind of work, since the start of the illustration course, I thought I could do fashion illustrations and be a fashion illustrator, through the 1st year was hard for me to draw people, faces, figures and body poses and tried to improve it. In 2nd year had changed, I pushed away the fashion illustrations and to be them, and tried do nature, as I did nature art in my GCSE art textile where I was focus on birds, butterflies, trees and Japanese nature. I was extremely happy working on nature in every project I did in 2ndyear.
With my thought to my ambition, what I want to do in the future after graduate is to have my nature illustrations print onto fabric and for homeware object such as cushions, lampshades, wallpapers, beddings, curtains, furniture, etc., as I thought they will give their home, mostly for females’ style, what they would say are so cute, modern and some comfort and possibly quite feminine, even though I would have them in my own home. That will be somewhere in the future in 10 years or so. Before this ambition, the plans are to help with the environment charities such as RSPB, National Trusts, The Wildlife Trusts, to promote for them possibly or to give anyone some attention and think about the important of the environment as commission, but not sure exactly sure if that’s right or work… After or during that I am hoping to have my illustration in gallery or nature work exhibition/gallery.
Back to the course, the most important thing I learned on Professional Practice last year was researched and looked how illustrators did their work into successful public view for instance into publishing, advertising, editorial, and also successful selling greeting cards, that I noticed all of each illustrators’ work does suits to these commissions. And looked at how illustrators did the online portfolio website designs, and again does suits their personalities. But something I feel need to learn and understand to become a professional illustrator is, for example, about my plans in the future. I want to understand how to work with the area in nature like charities, as in environment, and further more that I did not know about it.
The kind of illustrator I want to be is to give some aware about the environment or nature that are beautiful and so important to lives with.
My opinion of my work are huge passion, of my interest, and possibly different, and to including moving images work are natural skilled. I like to give inspires, influences and thoughts to an audience, and appreciates to and from them.
The best work I’ve made so far was the Covert project, in collaborate gallery, this is the best because I have found what I loved and enjoyed, and really impressed that I created large work, ever in my life, and gave out superior.
Furthermore, the worst work I have made so far was all of the projects from 1styear because I was struggled when, as I mentioned, I did illustrate that involved people and fashion illustration, and I don’t seem to like them.
And finally, I admires in work by my most favourite illustrator, Kristjana S Williams. Value with passion of landscape, wild creatures and being bold creative into my work.
