Little Peevish Pigeon and Little Pretty Pansy | Illustration
Hello, I'm back, again, after a month.
I've managed to finish this artwork since mid-July that I've started, with all the spare time I had trying to complete this painting. So here it is!
About this artwork Little Peevish Pigeon and Little Pretty Pansy, I have been thinking about the time from August last year, when we had a young pigeon hiding in the garden flower bed, as it was fledgling. My family and I have been watching the juvenile, as well as our foster Akita Spirit, with its' daily activities in the garden. We then went outside to take a closer look, surprisedly it wasn't spooked by us and sat in the spot, and then Spirit got curious of it and got closer to it gently, that youngster was not happy and gave him quite a big peck. Poor boy got spook and respectfully back away.
Here are the videos of Spirit watching the pigeon.
He was such a gentle giant, so cute.
Anyway, I was inspired by these photo references to paint from it!
From that point of painting the pigeon, I had a panic moment when I tried to do the shades of grey, the colour of pigeon's feather, gotten overwork with water that rubbed the paper off and formed clumps, I thought I won't get the end result in the way I wanted. So I gave up trying to improve.
Until then, as I finished working on the pansy, I went back to the feather shades to improve by adding other colours and details. I have finally fixed it as you can see here!
The result is by using the extra colour for grey and the details to add.
And finally, the fabulous artwork photoshoots.
In actual fact, we had two different young pigeons, the first one was in April/May time and the second was in August. We even named them, first was called Carnie, as named after the flower Carnation because this one kept peck at it and pulled off. It's my mum's favourite flower and she was not happy, oh dear. And the second was called PS, I'm not going to explain the meaning of this name because it shortens two naughty words. Hehehehe.
With my lack of spare time to paint, the reason is because of work as I have been working on Saturday morning for the past 3 months, basically 5 and a half days a week. There are so many projects deadlines, trying to get them complete by these deadlines, it's been difficult. But not as difficult as all the NHS workers have done since the pandemic, I take my hat off to them.
I hope I have some time this month as I have a plan to paint by October, and that will be revealed next month...hopefully. 🤞
Thanks for reading!
