"I'm not an Easter gift" | Illustration
It's Good Friday today! And good weather here with 22C and sunshine.
I'm waiting for Easter Sunday so that I'll have some Easter chocolate eggs and devour it.
On behalf of all the rabbits, I want to make awareness about rabbits at Easter time, rabbits are 10 to 12 years commitment, not as Easter gift!
People buy them for their children as Easter gift, without researches, thinking about finances, commit to having them for their whole life, they'll end up abandon in a few months.
Young children will get bored with them eventually, even they weren't begging to have one. The vet bill is expensive from such a small, delicate creature. They're high maintenance so they're not great "starter" pet. They require a large space to entertain themselves outdoor and lives indoor, but shut in the hutch outdoor, mostly being forgotten.
When people gave them up, they dumped them in street thinking they can survive out there like the wild rabbits. There are many rabbits in shelters, in the UK, with over 60,000.
My family and I have fostered 17 rabbits, from 2011 to '16, and one of them have been in this case. I learned a lot from them, understand them, respect them and gave them lots of loves. They were definitely not an easy pet, but they were sweet, beautiful and amazing rabbits. Plus, they changed my lifestyle, I became a vegetarian, buying cruelty-free products as well as avoiding non-cruelty-free products seriously, and rabbit lover.
My illustration awareness is "I'm not an Easter gift".
I have been aww-ing a lot whilst I was painting this cute rabbit. I just love rabbits, which explains that I'm a rabbit lover.
I can say that I'm really pleased with my rabbit water-paint, compare to the original illustration I did 3 years ago.
Can't believe how big the improvement from 3 years! I have been smiling from ear to ear, as I mostly draw British birds and nature as it's my illustration speciality since university. Also, my water-paint skill is looking good!
Hope you enjoy the sunshine in your garden and stay safe.
