Developments For Final Major Project | Graphic Design

This is the final ever project for this graphic design. This blog i am going to talk about my idea, what i've made as development, and the drawing style.

So, the idea for FMP is  that I am going to make a Poem book of dogs. The ideal target audience of this is for ages 3-10.

 With the drawing style or as you would really call illustration, i researched on some illustrator to see their illustration technique, i have looked on Lucia Emanuela Curzi, Katharine Asher and Jacqueline Bissett, their illustration all in fact are wet media techniques, such as watercolour.

 So then i tried this technique, here are what i've tried.
 


 

 


I've experimented with the watercolour paints and water-pencils.


There’s another technique I am interesting in David Sparshott. He use the colour pencils, which is much drier. So i also tried this technique.




The size of the book will be A5. In each page has a hole apart from the back and the front which has an image of a dog. Around a hole in each page, will be poems and some images. And this book is going to have a bookmark that is a attached to it. 

Tried to work out how to make a book cover and binding.





 Here's what i didi for the bookmarks to experiment.

And here's a photoshop i put it together from my garden so that i can draw the garden from this and some photos of my dog to practise the dog body positions.

As i'm nearly finish my book, here's a photo of my pages hanging dry, and my little monkey hanging out as well.

The Monarch | Illustration

The Milkweed butterfly, also in another name of the Monarch butterfly, inspired me when I watched BBC's Spy in the Wild Series 2 in February. In episode 2 "The North", in this scene located the mountain in West Mexico, with the Spy Hummingbird capturing the place that's considered the world's most beautiful natural gathering, where the Monarch butterflies hibernated during the winter. It was Spring, the Spy hummingbird flying around millions of butterflies resting on the oyamel fir trees (I just looked it up of what kind of tree because I can't remember what it was, hehe). When the sunshine on them, warmed their delicate wings, then started to fly. And when they fly, it was absolutely spectacular, all orange and flow through the trees. Bloom Wildly | Illustration

It's nearly the end of May, the weather for the last week of the month has been sun shining and over 22c of temperature, such lovely weather. So yesterday, I have been painting the dog rose flowers, that just blossomed nearly 2 weeks ago! Right now they're blooming quite wildly in my home garden and the front! This bush even grows over the tree, makes it so enchanting it's like in a magical summer garden. And with the wall, this can hang further that I can go underneath it for some shade. This one is new from the front as it hasn't grown there before, so it's the first time seeing this. And it's already climbing up the birch tree! It looks nice to look at through the window, where I work on some arts, plus good for some inspirations to illustrate! Whilst I was painting, I did another timelapse video on this. Motion frame, Horse and Rabbit (my foster rabbit, Dust). Colour felt tip pens. - I worked on this for Life Drawing independent project in university (first year), I chose to work on animal motions, I like drawing animals and am interesting their movements.
